JLD School Events

Due to the changing state of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we had to hold-off on many of the traditionally held events we sponsor each school year.

However, we have high hopes for the 2022-2023 School Year!

See an event or area you would like to help us coordinate or volunteer on?

Let us know! Email jldpto@gmail.com or message us on FaceBook

Some of the events & activities PTO hosted/sponsored in the past include:

Dolphin Splash School Carnival

Dolphin Splash is a fun filled family event for our Dennis community  Enjoy carnival games, inflatables, potato sack races, sand art, face painting , dancing and music with local DJ, food & concessions, contests, prizes and much more! Dolphin Splash is our biggest event and many volunteers are needed.

Popcorn Fridays

The PTO hosts a popcorn day for the students as a special treat throughout the school year. Popcorn Fridays are usually once a month during lunches from 10:30am-1:30pm.  It takes many volunteers to keep Popcorn Fridays running smoothly.

Fundraisers

  • Dollars 4 Dolphins (Fall Fundraiser)- A Direct Donation drive will be held in the Fall 2021! Help us reach our goal of raising $25,000! We need many volunteers to help hand out prizes + increase awareness and excitement for this fundraiser.

  • Color Run (Spring Semester)- This year’s spring fundraiser will be a Color Run hosted by the JLD PTO!  Students will ask family and friends to sponsor them in their Color Run! This will be a big event and many volunteers will be needed to plan the event, solicit donations, and to provide assistance on the day of the Color Run.

  • Smoothie Day - We are excited to partner with Babble, a local boba and drink specialty cafe, for our Smoothie Day Fundraiser this year. We will be offering smooth slushees for $3 every month during your student's recess (after lunch) in green apple, peach-mango, and strawberry. These options are dairy free. $1.40 of every order stays at Dennis! Same as last year: All orders will need to be placed online.

  • Dining with Dolphins -  We aim to have a local restaurant each month to partner with for our "Dining with Dolphins" night. Some places give back as much as10% of all sales to JLD. Stay Tuned for Locations and Dates!

  • Turkey Grams - Before the Thanksgiving Break, PTO offers Thanksgiving themed candy grams to students during their lunch period in the cafeteria for $1 each. Students can send a Turkey Gram to any fellow JLD student, teacher or staff member!

Food Drive

The PTO works with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma as part of their 'Students Against Hunger' program to help prevent hunger in our communities by collecting as many pounds of canned goods or monetary donations as possible. Volunteers are needed to collect food, count donations and coordinate with the Food Bank to pick up the donations.

Care Share

During the holiday season each classroom will be assigned the name and age of a child in need. There will be a donation box outside each classroom where students can bring items for their Care Share Kid. This is a wonderful program that helps ensure a special holiday season for children and families in need.  Volunteers are needed to help sort donations and shop for needed items.

Santa Store

The Santa Store is a unique opportunity for students to shop for friends and family members during the holiday season.  Students are able to visit the store during their lunch break to purchase gifts.  The items in the store vary in a wide variety of price ranges so the students have a great selection of gifts!  Volunteers will be needed during this event to help the students manage their money, choose gifts and wrap their presents.

Holiday Classroom Parties

The classroom parties will take place in December and February.  Each classroom will have a sign-up sheet for parent helpers and Homeroom Parent.  Look for the sign-up sheet in your student’s classroom!

School Dances

  • Dolphin Ball- This is a special evening in February for the Dennis girls and their adult chaperone.  Enjoy a catered dinner and entertainment provided by a professional DJ! There will also be a photographer available for capturing pictures of this memorable evening. A volunteer photographer is needed for this event.  Volunteers are also needed to plan, decorate, and oversee the evening’s festivities.

  • Boys Event - This is a fun-filled evening in April for the Dennis boys and their adult chaperone.  Dinner will be catered.  There will also be a photographer available to take pictures at this event.  A volunteer photographer is needed for this event.  Volunteers are also needed to plan, decorate, and oversee the evening’s festivities.

3rd, 4th, & 5th grade Testing

Spring semester is testing season which can be stressful for parents, teachers, and especially students. We will need many volunteers to sit in as testing monitors.
